Additionally, in line with the European Competence Framework for Researchers (ResearchComp), this course contributes to competencies such as Managing Research (promote open access publications), Making an Impact (participate in the publication process), Managing Research Tools (manage research data) and Doing Research (apply research ethics and integrity principles).
Outcomes: On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Explain different models of open access publishing and their implications.
Navigate the open access publishing process and identify predatory journals.
Apply open licenses for scientific papers, data, and code.
Implement transparency and reproducibility practices in research workflows.
Use FAIR principles to prepare and share data responsibly.
Evaluate tools and repositories supporting open science.
Draft an Open Science implementation plan and contribute to open peer review.
Activities:
You will engage with key resources and examples, practice applying licenses, create metadata for datasets, evaluate journals and repositories, contribute to peer discussions, and complete quizzes. The learning path concludes with a synthesis activity where you will produce a short Open Science Implementation Plan tailored to their research or study context.
Time to complete the course:
This course is designed for 15 hours of online learning activities. After you have completed all the activities, you will be able to earn the badge, issued as a micro-credential.
